Kite safari dates 2027: when the trips run and how to pick your week

The 2027 dates have not been published yet. The 2026 season still gives you a rhythm to plan around: 4 weeks in spring and autumn, each one 8 days from Hurghada.

The kite safari dates for 2027 have not been published yet. Paradise Kitesurf, the operator I go on safari with, still only lists 2026 on its website as of 17 October 2026. If you want to hear about the 2027 dates as soon as they are out, you can sign up for a notification through the form on the Egypt kite safari page.

You can still start planning now. The 2026 season shows the rhythm the trips run on, and that is enough to decide between spring and autumn and to block out your holiday.

The 2026 dates as a guide to 2027

There are 4 weeks in 2026, and the last one, 7-14 November, is still ahead. You can ask about free places for November through the same form. Each week is 8 days and 7 nights, starting and finishing in Hurghada. I don't know yet whether 2027 will follow the same pattern, but it is the best guide we have right now.

2026 trip Days Wind strength for the month (model, 100 = windiest month of the year) Average air temperature (model)
11-18 April Saturday - Saturday 80 24 °C
22-29 May Friday - Friday 82 27 °C
10-17 October Saturday - Saturday 84 27 °C
7-14 November Saturday - Saturday 72 24 °C

The May week starts on a Friday, the others on a Saturday. If you are watching flights for 2027, don't assume a Saturday start and wait for the exact date.

The wind and temperature figures are monthly averages from the NASA POWER model for the area around Hurghada. For the wind, the strongest month of the year gets 100 and the other months are a share of it, so 80 means 80% of the wind in the windiest month. The model works on a grid of roughly 50 km and gives the wind at 10 m, so it shows how the wind shifts over the year, not what blows on a particular beach or island. The temperature is a 24-hour average including the night, so middays are warmer.

Spring or autumn

On the model, April, May and October are almost equally windy, and November is the lightest of the 4 months. The direction hardly changes over the year: around Hurghada it blows mostly from the northwest. The same model puts the windiest months at June to September, but there are no safari weeks in those months in 2026.

So between spring and autumn, I would decide mainly on when you can get time off work and how well you cope with heat. May and October are warmer; in April and November you will want a hoodie on deck in the evening breeze. I go through what to bring in my kite safari packing list.

At the end of April 2024 we took 8 beginners with us on the safari. We spent the first 2 days on Geisum. Day one was hard work, and by the middle of day two everyone was riding. Then we moved on to Ashrafi. I wouldn't bet on April because of it, though. The same week can blow completely differently next year, and the instructor sets a lot of the group's pace.

If you have been kiting for years and are going mainly for downwinders and empty lagoons, the dates won't decide which island you end up on. The boat picks the spot each day from the forecast, and downwinders between the islands are on the programme in every week. I would think about your quiver more than about the month. The wind differs from island to island, so I would pack kites for both stronger and lighter days rather than one all-rounder. The kite size calculator helps you check the sizes.

What stays the same every week

Every week you land in Hurghada on day 1 and fly home on day 8. Transfers from the airport to the boat and back are included, so you only need flights to and from Hurghada. For a day-by-day picture of the programme, see Kite safari Egypt: what to expect.

Where you go depends on the wind. The most popular spot is Tawila with its huge shallow lagoon, where Paradise quotes steady 15-25 knots. The boat only goes there by prior arrangement, though, because entry to the island is charged. Then there is Geisum with long beaches and a downwinder to the neighbouring islands, and the smaller Abu Minqar with calm shallow water. Gubal, with stronger wind and deeper water, is only on the route when guests want to dive. You can find all the islands on the kite spot map.

Who should watch the dates closely

You want a suite. The boat used on the recent trips, M/Y Hermes, had 10 cabins and only 2 suites. In the 2026 price list the TOP SEA VIEW suite is €200 extra per person and a cabin with a double bed €100 extra per person, both for 2 people. Which boat runs in 2027 is confirmed together with the dates, because the boat is chartered.

You are coming with friends. Put in your enquiry straight away how many of you there are and which cabins you want, so it can be checked whether you all fit on the same week. How to book a boat for a group is covered in Kite safari with friends.

You want to learn on the safari. The beginner course costs €600 in 2026. It is a 6-day intensive course with equipment included, so it fills the whole kite week. In my view a safari gives the most to people who already ride on their own after a course. A beginner can learn on the boat, just knowing that their week belongs to the course. I cover learning on a boat trip in Kite safari for beginners.

What 2027 will cost

The 2027 price has not been published. In 2026 a week costs €1,250 per person in a twin cabin. That covers an air-conditioned cabin, full board, drinks, the beach base on the islands, beach boys who help you launch and land, a rescue boat and transfers.

On top of that you pay marine national park and marina fees plus crew tips, €100-150. Mohamed, who runs the safari, confirms the exact amount together with the dates. You also pay for your flights, the Egyptian visa and travel insurance that covers kiting. If you don't have your own gear, full kite equipment costs €300 for 6 days in 2026. The full breakdown is in How much does a kite safari cost.

What to put in the form

When you send an enquiry or ask to be told about the 2027 dates, it helps to include right away:

  • which month or months suit you, for example "April or October",
  • how many of you are coming and which cabin you want,
  • how you ride: first course, riding on your own after a course, or downwinders and tricks,
  • whether you need to rent gear or are bringing your own.
